Beat The Heat !

So the dreaded summer is here already! And everyone is going haywire just to keep up with this heat. And Mumbai is one place where everyone is in such big hurry that sometimes taking care of yourself is just difficult, so I have jolted down some must do’s and some to buy list so as to keep myself away from the heat. So here goes my “Beat the Heat list” :D

Starting from the morning you must put on a sunscreen and then go out of the house it’s a MUST HAVE !!!!

To protect yourself from the heat outside try using a Scarf or a Bandana or a Big hat. It helps cover your hair and your scalp which we often fail to pay attention to. It also looks very chick and stylish.

<== Scarf (aka Stole) can be used on almost all outfits. you can drape it or cover your head with it. it comes in various colours and designs so you can always mix and match.

Bandana makes you look very chick and stylish and carefree… it helps cover your scalp from the intense heat which eventually makes your scalp go dry.===>

You can also carry a nice cotton, bright coloured bag so that you can carry all your stuff in one place and still look trendy

There are so many cotton clothes available these days, with really nice fitting and colours. If you are not looking forward to spending a lot behind them then you can check out some clothes at Linking road, Bandra or hill Road or Fashion street, churchgate. You will find lots of variety in apparels there for as cheap at ` 100/- to 250/- .

Also flip flops are a considered comfortable in this heat.

A good perfume is a must. You don’t wanna go to your work or meet your friends spelling awful, do you?? Its difficult to stay away from sweat in this heat so its always a good choice to keep a deo or perfume handy.

Very good shades, there is no harm in investing on a good shade. They protect your eyes and thus it has to be of a good quality. And trust me you wont regret investing in a good brand.

Minimum makeup, try and keep your makeup as neutral as possible. A good kajal and lip gloss can work wonders

Doesn’t our very own Kareena Kapoor pull off that look just fine?

Drink Loads and Loads of water, as everyone knows that water is really very important to us, so keep sipping some at regular intervals.

Fruits – watermelon, mangoes, grapes are the fruits of the season and as you may notice they are all high on water content so have it whenever you can, it helps restore the water content in your body and ofcourse keep you healthy :D

After you come home, wash your face with a loads of water. You can use a face pack to restore that shine and relax you. Here are some face packs which you can use. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/natural-beauty-homemade-face-packs.html

Oil your hair regularly, heat can make your hair dry and unmanageable. The only way out is to take very good care of them. A nice head massage also helps relax your mind and body.

A nice manicure pedicure will help build up your feel good factor J I mean who doesn’t love clean and healthy looking nails???  you can use any nude nail paint or bright colours.

Okay that’s all I can think of now.. thank you and over and out :D

PS – this is my first beauty tips related post. Hope you like it.

My Very First Rainbow :D

I know they are not very clear but i was in a bus and this is all i could get : / anywho well this marks as my first official Rainbow Viewing though i had a caught a glimpse of one way back in 2008 in  Mumbai but never really got a nice picture and i doubted then if i had really seen it or if my eyes were playing tricks with me.

Satyamev Jayate

Remember that time when every Sunday morning meant watching Mahabharat and Ramayana on television? Alas gone were those days, until today this very morning. I remember my grand father telling me that way back in times when they used to live in Girgaon, Mumbai every Sunday meant officially watching Mahabharata and Ramayana. Today however bought the same effect on the whole of India when almost everyone was glued to their Television screens to watch “Satyameva Jayate”.
I had a meeting to attend today morning at 11am so I missed watching the show, also my phone was in my bag so I was basically out of touch from the everyone. I got out of the meeting at 1pm and the first thing I did was ask a friend how the show was, but there was no need to ask even before he replied back there was a hell lot of BBM status updates saying they loved the show, there were loads of tweets and facebook status confirming the same thing.  All I cared about then was to know when the repeat telecast is ( which I got to know its at 10pm tonight. :D ) yet I couldn’t control my curiosity and watched it online. And trust me when I say I was completely awed I don’t remember which show ever had made me feel so touched and so worried about my baby which is not even born yet esp when the segment came where people said that girls are bought and sold for marriage. I imagined that maybe 10years from now my daughter may not have the same independence and freedom and security I grew up with.
And then my mom switched on the T.V and nothing could have irritated me more than that bloody television. News channels were broadcasting news about celebrity gossip and on set stories about the daily soap actors. It really made me wonder that the channel which is supposed to give us information which I just got off a renowned Bollywood actor is giving me all rubbish good for nothing information about celebrities for god sake leave that aside for entertainment channels you have different role to play here.
But then again, media these days have forgotten the role of media altogether maybe there are some who still do quality journalism but I am sad to say that majority fails to do so. A famous newspaper’s editor once held a seminar which I had attended and he said so that news these days have become a business and its all about entertainment, its all about Demand and Supply.  People demand entertainment and news channels and newspapers to increase their T.R.P give them what they want instead of leaving out the entertainment quotient with the entertainment channels.
Anyway coming back to the topic, the TV show “Satyamev Jayate” is indeed a nice concept and effort made by Aamir Khan and the whole team. I wonder whether Satyamev Jayate will create the same awareness as Rang De Basanti did back then… I really hope it does! J

PMS Post

Do you have a kind of special food that never fails to lift up your mood. Well if you ask me then its Chinese for me, and of course the usual Chocolate cake etc always ads up more to life but Chinese is always the best thing. Today was or rather is ( the day is not over yet ) once such day for me the day started rather gloomy for me with nothing to look forward to ( vacation are on ) nothing exciting and just plain boring all i wanted to do was cozy up in bed and read a book but after sometime even that seemed bored, maybe i am PMS'ing that time of the month is closing in. Do guys go through such mood swings? I mean its so irritating na? why do only girls have to deal with this stupid mood swings for no bloody reason. Maybe by now you do realise that this post is a random rant about my life and by the end of you will find it just as useless as you find now.  So what is that your eat when you are PMS'ing or are just plain lazy, i do this one thing with Oreo Biscuits and Vanilla Ice Cream - crush -oreo biscuits and mix it with vanilla ice cream and keep it in freeze for like 15mins for it to just retain back to the same texture because when your mix it and all that time the ice cream melts a little. and once it is done you are good to go with your oreo ice cream :Danother thing is maggi... maggi does help sooth your mood sometimes.chocolate is always thereAnd who can forget the summer heat which is just not so tolerable these days, and managing your hair is just troublesome forget managing it when you are PMS'ing so the best hairstyle for me these days is a normal plait or all tied up bun anything other than that which you think is manageable in this heat don't forget to share!!!To give you some update my Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism practise is going good and the results are awesome as well. So that always gives a reason to smile. Other than that i need to buy a good bag, maybe that will help me feel a lil better. Also a friend just started a blog today about Movie Reviews, here is the link  do visit and comment.okay so now i am bored... over and out!

Jallianwala Baug - Accidental Pic

This Picture is taken at Jallianwala Baug, Amritsar. This is the well in which the people trapped in the baug when general dyer open fired at the people who had gathered there for the meeting On Sunday 13 April 1919.

The feeling of standing there was thrilling and even a fresh reminder of the horrors which this place had seen. The well is secured with grills around it so that people don’t accidently fall in the well. And as the grills were very small I was not able to take a very good picture of the well but this pic was accidently taken.
