First Autograph

It was back in 2002 when Band of Boys first released the Meri Neend Song. I got to know that they were launching / performing (I don’t really remember what was the event, it was ages back guys) at Planet M in town. Excited I told my mother to take me to the event. We reached and it was super crowded. I was surrounded with college going students and people who were really into music and I instantly felt out of place. As soon as the event started and these guys started performing my awkwardness turned into awe.

Once the performance was over, I mustered up some courage and went to the host and asked her if I could get their autograph. Sensing my nervousness she smiled and took me upstairs where the band was waiting. I still remember I was so nervous; I was so close to passing out. Heart pounding loud, hands cold with nervousness and with a lump in my throat I went up to them and asked for their autograph. I think this is what happens when one gets star struck. They were super nice and signed my book immediately. As I turned around and started going downstairs there was a big smile on my face.

I needed this experience to understand that they are as human as I am. I never got star struck ever again and the fear of approaching someone and talking? Gone!

I was prompted to do this blog after the following incident.

Francesco’s Pizzeria, Kemps Corner

Found this little pizzeria with cozy interior in the heart of a busy surrounding in Mumbai. The place is small but very cozy, friendly staff and good food. You get a variety of pizza and some other side dishes. We went around 10pm so the place was empty which kindof worked in our favour as I personally don’t like eating with millions of people around me.
We ordered 2 pizzas and a Chocolate filled Bun (the name is something else, I can’t remember it now)
The place is quite reasonable too…
The only thing my friend had a problem was that he thought the crust was too thin, I found it okay though. I guess that is more of a personal choice.
If you are ever in the locality you should really try this place out! :)

Overall I would give it 3.5 out of 5

C= Cravings

I don’t know if I have mentioned this before or not, but recently when I was in a book store with a friend we stumbled upon a book on Cravings and there was a quiz about why we crave for things and I am super embarrassed to say that they result for the quiz I took said that I use food as an excuse to feel happy… of course I laughed it off that time and thought it was just a stupid book, of course it’s not true however as I did ponder on it later I realized that part of it is true.
So much has been going on in my life ever since 2014 started that I honestly don’t know if I have life as sorted as I thought it was.  I guess I want someone to who I can just pour my heart out and tell that person every tiny thing without the fear of being judged or misunderstood (everything we do is not 100% right you know). And until that thing happens food is my way out – I think!
This posts make me look super sad so I think I will stop now! JGood Day!

Chinese and Chocolates have been the major Cravings that I keep having these days and all of them start with a C so I couldn’t post anything else today.

PS- I found this super quick Cravings Quiz/Test ... Give it a try.. tell me what are you craving for?

Things to remember when Dating a Journalist

nternet is a funny place and these days it has become so much of a part of our daily life that you start and end your day with it.  I actually have got into a habit to googleeverything. You tweet, Instagram, Facebook Update, Foursquare Update almost everything that you do and actually find happiness in it, anyway this post is not about that… this is about something interesting I came across online today. I saw a facebook update about  “15 Reasons to Date a Lawyer” obviously me being me quickly googled “Reasons to Date a Journalist” and I was actually amazed that there was this whole list of things that came up, pretty fascinating actually.

Following are the Things to remember when Dating a Journalist –

1. Time is less of a problem. Yes! Journalist don’t have a 9to5 job and thus it’s always easier for them to squeeze in time for you and multitask.

2.  Journalistare dead serious about Deadlines and Time, if you are a person who doesn’t like to wait for your significant other Journalists are the people for you. They are always on Time, very serious about
Deadlines etc there is a drawback to it as well for eg – You are not allowed to come late.

3. There is a pretty good chance that you’ll end up discussing latest news, Politics etcon your date.

4.They always have topics to talk on. There won’t be a time when you are out of topics ( so awkward silences go right out of the window ) they also are great at parties or family event

5. They are good listeners. Journalists have an inbuilt talent to hear out the story, they love to listen to people and get more information about them. So if someday you just want someone to talk to, it’s time to call up that Journalist friend.

6. They are trustworthy… Journalists have a thing for loyalty and trust. It would be obviously appreciated if there is trust, loyalty and transparency in the relationship

7.They also have a knack of thinking on their toe, being adventurous and less of a drama queen.

8.   Journalists do get invited at all the major parties and events happening in the city.

9. It’s pointless to try and hide things from them, they are going to eventually going to find out the truth
( actually I think this applies to all girls )

10. Journalists are super serious and dedicated to their job. So its not like other things are less important it’sjust that their job is important than anything else.

11. Journalists wants to know EVERYTHING, every small detail counts!

12. Journalists have a opinion on everything.

13.  Journalists are on Social Media… in other words they are everywhere on Social Media!

My Experiments with Cooking

This vacation I had decided to just relax and do absolutely nothing after all this is the last vacation of my life after this it would be all hunt for jobs and start earning and listen to mom say “Its time you get married!” so this last time I am going to do everything that I love. It started with me making a Harry Potter Wand!!! That was something I wanted to do for a long long longgg time but somehow it just didn’t happen but I am glad cause when I finally did it, it is just the best! Ill do a post on that soon. There are many other Potter related things that I am planning on doing but for now lets start with that I did today.
I realized that its high time I start cooking, and cooking good! I don’t know I never got this feeling before that I should learn how to cook, but now suddenly I wanna know the receipe of everything that I eat. So what I ended up doing was subscribing to all the Food related channels on Youtube, Following Food Blogs etc etc. I guess this is something related to actually “Growing up”.
So today I decided to make Veg. Hakka Noodles. Quite a basic recipe really,
1.boil the noodles.
2. cut all the vegetables that you want to put in (onion, capsicum and cabbage for me)
3. drain the noodles and keep aside
4. heat up oil in another wok and put all the vegetables in and toss it up.
5. add the noodles and mix them up real nice.
6. add soya sauce, vinegar and salt.
7. add schezwan sauce if available.
8. toss up and serve J
For me, I did make a couple of mistakes like the salt was less and I sorta over cooked the noodles, but I guess I should be allowed these silly mistakes, I am still learning no? But other than that It was perfect. And in the adrenaline rush which went up inside me when my mom said, “its actually pretty good” I even cleaned all the vessels J

TRESemmé Ramp Ready Hair - My New Hair Product!

One aspect of me that I have a Love-Hate relationship with is my HAIR!!! I have dry, freezy curly hair and they are just impossible to manage, and to make things even worse I had straightened them like twice which has damaged them even more. I was always on a search for that perfect shampoo, conditioner, and serum to make my hair atleast remotely presentable. And thats where TRESemmé Ramp Ready Hair comes into picture, I had applied for the free sample on Indiblogger.in and was amazed with the effects it had on my hair.
It made my hair smooth, manageable and made my curls bounce :D. I am a loyal customer and if I like something ill keep using it, my previous shampoo was good but this was one step above it and I guess the time has come now to change my shampoo :D

Bargain Book Hut, Kala Ghoda

For a long time now I was searching for a book shop that will cater to my reading needs. Being a student and unemployed it was always a big task for me to actually save up money to buy books. With most of the books being atleast above 200/- rupees the task is even bigger. Obviously small book shops and the pirated books came to my rescue as it made both me as well as my pocket happy. But then again the print quality, the cover etc were not up to the mark and sometimes it was a disappointment. My quest for a cheap bookshop was always on, sales etc were again a great help. Recently there was a sale at Sunderbai Hall at Churchgate where they had a huge collection and the bargain was that 1kg books for 100/- rupees. Quite a treat for all the book lovers I must say.
And then I found this one shop snuggled up in a small lane of a busy area. I went there the first time but couldn’t find it. I went there the second time and was successful to find the little door with a small room which was filled with books, and books which were actually affordable. I really don’t know how they do it. But the books are so cheap!!! And that too little used or as good as new books! I spend a good half hour there and I never wanted to leave. The total bill for 6books was 635/- rupees with the discounted price whereas when I added up the original price it was 1465/- rupees, I saved a good 830/- rupees.. quite a treat for my wallet really :D
So go visit this shop, you’ll find wonderful books and exciting offers.
Budget Book Hut, Kalaghoda.

PS -  Do let me know how you liked the show, okay?

Chronicle of the week!

Things have been all busy this last week, and obviously that means that I didn’t get much time to blog about anything and its obvious I missed it immensely. So just to wrap up on about the week and not curse myself about not blogging enough here is a quick recap of the week.
College has been hectic and with all the assignments  coming up, there is hardly anytime left. It also turns out that I have bunked 2 lectures and that is purely because I feel so tired all the time.  I am teaching some kids in my area as well, and that’s so stress buster, I never thought teaching will ever make me so happy. Maybe its because I am not doing it professionally and not asking for any money in return. Cause once I start taking fees it wont be the kind of teaching I do now, it will be prepare for them exams and prepare them for good marks whereas now I am just teaching them! Not for exams but for themselves. They have full freedom to study what they want, come up with questions and then we google and find answers, or look at some videos online.
He got a Hero Honda Impulse, bloody huge bike!
Crossword celebrated Harry Potter’s birthday  this Sunday, and it was fun!!! There were all these kids who came and there were all quiz and drawing competition etc and then we cut a cake.  Just standing there looking at kids enthusiastic about Potter made me happy.  And I really cant believe kids that age have actually read all the books.
Anddd yesterday was, Harry Potter’s real birthday and also JK Rowling’s birthday and also one of my friends birthday!  So we went his place the night before and cut a cake etc.

Okay that’s all for now… ciao… have a good day!

Old Songs are Always The Best :)

For a few days now I have been travelling to Dombivali from Dadar almost everyday and sometimes ( or rather everytime ) the travelling is  really a painful job. Just because the station area is so damn crowded you don’t get a cab to the station directly nor do you get a cab immediately outside the station its always a long walk and then chase down for the cab. And the train journey itself is also weird. You don’t get fast trains easily so I opt for the slow train which is like an hour long journey. So I plugged in my earphones and on went the music.
After like half hour of the today’s generation music with all dhoosh dhoosh dhoosh beats it all sounded like noise to me. I ended up pushing the next button more often even without completing the song, it was then when Raj Kapoor’s Pyaar Hua Iqraar Hua started playing and it was so soothing and good for the year that I made up a playlist with all the old songs and kept it playing on loop.
Its not that I hate these new songs, ofcourse they are awesome! But sometimes Kishore Kumar’s Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si is better than Bhag DK Bose for me. But sometimes it all becomes plain noise and somewhere the pure essence of good music is lost. The old songs have a mixture of everything good lyrics, good music, and  a nice soothing feel it gives you and if you have the video as well … well its just a treat for your eyes.

Thursday Challenge - STAIRS

The bestest shopping place in Mumbai

I am a big fan of the accessories you get to buy in Mumbai’s local train and in all those small shops which you are bound to miss out on. I have a few things picked up from all these small shops and local trains, and they are as cheap as 20bucks.  Some of the accessories we get to buy in those big big malls are so costly that you have to think twice before buying it and they are so small and delicate that I usually misplace them within a month, and if you fall in this league as well then these train accessories are just for you, you don’t have to bother about they getting misplaced and you can always have loads of accessories to match with your outfit
J

These are some which I got in the local train for 10bucks each J

I love this one the most… love those little butterflies in there. I had one with little heart in it as well, misplaced it butL

Got this off Sobo Central, Ahemdabad. They are for `75/- but I really liked them. They are named as “Tribal range” something.

Something in Silver

Got this from Ahemdabad Kite flying festival  For `10/-

Got this just yesterday in a local train  for `20/-

These biggg earrings do look good sometimes, on traditional wear, or with a kurti.

Jhumkas from Law Garden, Ahemdabad. She initially told me  `500/-  for them, then after bargaining it bagged it for `100/- J

Got them yesterday along with the one I posted above… same price `20/-  I liked them for daily wear. It can be matched with almost everything.

Coming now to Bangles, Kadas… I am not much of a bracelet person always found it way too delicate for me to handle.

Starting from the right – Golden with little design on it for `50/-  from local train J
The second golden and brown from Bhuleshwar, Girgaun fro ` 250/-
The small silver one for `75/- from Bhuleshwar,Girgaun

Got all 3 from Rajkot, Gujrat for a total of  `275/-

These are just local buys, shouldn’t be much costly say `50/- for 4 of them.

These are my most FAVORITE, they look heavy but are really not. You don’t have to wear loads of bangles, just one of these is enough. You can wear it at some family function.
The golden is for `200/-  and the silver one is for `100/-  from Bhuleshwar, Girgaun.

This is a gift. J

So to sum up the whole post, the best shopping places are the ones which are generally neglected.. like the Local Trains, The shops at the very end of the lane etc J we don’t always need to go to Fashion Street, or Linking Road or Hill Road. There are some other places in Mumbai where you get a very good bargain.
